Craft Show is a celebration of Contemporary Craft, hosted at Peckham’s Copeland Gallery each year in May. Craft Show takes craft out of the trade fair and market stall setting to give beautiful works of craft the space and attention they deserve. Officially a part of London Craft Week, last year we were one of the busiest events on the schedule and featured in Time Out’s top things to do in London.
Craft Show has three distinctive elements - a Showcase, a series of Workshops and a Shop.
The Showcase is a curated selection of makers works displayed in thoughtful still-lifes, mixing media and giving visitors the chance to imagine how objects would work in their own homes. Our aim is for this to be the annual exhibition that makers look forward to, offering the chance to exhibit new work, meet other makers and chat craft for a whole weekend.
Our series of Workshops are hosted by some very talented makers. We are passionate about having making in the exhibition space, and each year schedule a range of really interesting workshops.
From natural dying to still-life drawing the space is always alive with the hum of conversations and people making. The main workshop space is in a semi-private area of the gallery, keeping it quiet but still allowing visitors to walk around and see what’s happening.
A selection of our Workshops are completely free to take part.
Our Shop lets visitors take a piece of the handmade home and allows makers to show and sell a wider variety of their work, whilst keeping the showcase beautiful and uncrowded.
The entire event is organised by two South East London makers, Chloe and Rachael (and some very lovely volunteers during the show!)
